Palanga Botanical Park, also known as Birutė Park, is a landscape park between the town and the sea, designed at the end of the 19th century by the French landscape architect E. F. André for the Tiškevičius counts. It has winding paths, ponds, parterres, a rose garden, Birutė Hill with its chapel, a Lourdes grotto and sculptures, and the counts' palace houses Gintaro muziejus, the amber museum. In summer, on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 18:30, the Palangos pučiamųjų orkestras brass band plays free in the rotunda. The park is meant for quiet walks: riding bicycles, scooters and other wheeled vehicles is prohibited, and visitors are asked to protect the lawns. Admission is free; you can walk through the park to the Birutė Park beach.
