Description
“Poringės” is a Vilnius youth folklore ensemble that grew out of a student group at Lietuvos edukologijos universitetas and has been independent since 2017. It has about 35 members: they sing and dance, and the musicians play skudučiai (panpipes), horns, kanklės, lamzdeliai, fiddles, concertina, bass fiddle and drums. The ensemble takes part in the “Skamba skamba kankliai” festival every year. New members are welcome, but experience in folk singing, dancing or playing is expected; musicians, lead singers and people who tell stories in dialect are especially welcome.
