Wind instruments from an alphorn to a carrot
Club
Wind instruments Venue by agreement · Latvia
Description
Trombonist Vairis Nartišs visits schools with a programme of rare wind instruments: Latvia's only alphorn, almost four metres long, a subcontrabass trumpet of his own invention, a recorder played with the nose and an instrument made from a carrot in front of the audience. A garden hose, a drill and a watering can also become instruments, and the pupils learn how shape and size change pitch and tone. It suits grades 1–12, and the association also offers it as a concert-lecture.
