Wheelchair Dance for People with Mobility Impairments

The Jūrmala Welfare Department, together with the foundation “Fonds – Jūrmala cilvēkam”, holds free wheelchair dance classes for people with mobility impairments. Movements are adapted to each person's abilities: dance develops coordination, posture, and strength in the arms and upper body, and builds self-confidence, while the group brings new friends and the chance to perform on stage or in competitions. Age, experience and fitness do not matter. Classes take place on Mondays at Kauguru kultūras nams in two groups and are led by a dance and movement therapist; they are funded by an ESF+ health promotion project. To join, register in advance through the Jūrmala Welfare Department.
