English“Vaboles 45.” Guide (Girl Scout) Troop
Description
The “Vaboles 45.” troop is a unit of the Latvian Scout and Guide Central Organization (LSGCO) in Augšdaugava Municipality, active at the Vabole school since 1991. It is a girls' (Guides') troop, and new members traditionally make their promise at the Skrinda Family Museum. At meetings, children and young people learn to tie knots, build a campfire, navigate the terrain and give first aid, and they go on hikes and to camps. At present the troop runs the Guides level, i.e. girl scouts (ages 12–14). Anyone wishing to join should contact the troop leader or the LSGCO; in time, new members make the promise and receive a uniform and a neckerchief.
