Description

The University of Latvia’s rhododendron nursery “Babīte” was founded in 1980 in almost 12 hectares of pine forest in Spilve and is the only specialised rhododendron nursery in the Baltic states: its collection holds more than 400 cultivars and 119 wild species, and over 160 new cultivars have been bred here. Visitors can see the collection along a 1.5 km paved path (about 1–1.5 hours); most rhododendrons flower in late May and early June. Guided tours are offered for groups, and plants are sold in spring and autumn.
