Description

Formed in 2013, the Šilojus folk music ensemble of the Šilalė Cultural Center consists of eleven members—musicians and singers who play a variety of instruments; the ensemble includes musicians of all ages. The group actively participates in district and county celebrations and festivals, band competitions, and community and town events—such as the Samogitian Region Band Festival in Žarėnai, the band festival in Traksėdis, and Baltic Unity Day on the Rubinavas Hillfort. The band is led by instrumentalist Aivaras Šimkus.
