Description

The Šilalė Musical Theater was founded in 2019 as a joint project of amateur arts groups at the cultural center, choosing the musical genre—one rarely staged by amateur troupes. The theater has staged “Eliza” based on B. Shaw’s “Pygmalion,” I. Kalman’s “The Queen of the Csárdás,” “The City of Intrigues” based on W. Shakespeare, J. Strauss’s operetta “Die Fledermaus,” F. Lehár’s “The Merry Widow”; Andrius Apšega, a soloist with the Kaunas State Musical Theater, participated in the theatrical concerts. The theater features soloists and amateur actors, supported by the “Mainytinis” dance troupe, the Šilalė Region Mixed Choir, and the “Aušrinė” women’s vocal ensemble. Theater camps and workshops are organized for participants every year.
