Description
The amber museum is housed in the palace of Count Feliksas Tiškevičius, built at the end of the 19th century, in the middle of Palanga Botanical Park (Birutė Park). Fifteen halls of the permanent exhibition tell how amber forms and how it has been used and worked from ancient times to modern pieces; exhibitions are held in the palace's former chapel, and the Tiškevičius family's activities are presented as well. The museum is accessible to visitors with strollers and with reduced mobility, and there is a café with a terrace facing the park and a souvenir shop. A guided tour takes about an hour and must be booked in advance. The museum is closed on Mondays; on the last Sunday of the month admission is free.
