Description
Founded in 1960, the Kybartai Wind Orchestra has nurtured many generations of musicians over the course of six decades —today, it features more than 70 musicians of all ages, from schoolchildren to adults. In 1987, the ensemble was awarded the title of the “Kybartai” folk ensemble; and in 2000, 2004, and 2017, it received “Golden Bird” nominations; in 2009, it was awarded the first-level artistic category. The orchestra has won the Grand Prix in Hungary, performed at the Lithuanian National Philharmonic, St. Catherine’s Church, and the Vilnius Congress Hall, and has represented Lithuania in Sweden, France, Latvia, Estonia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, and Poland. About 20 concerts are held each year; the orchestra prepares entertainment, classical, sacred, educational, and “show” programs.
