Description
The Skriaudžiai ensemble “Kanklės” was founded in 1906 when organist Pranas Puskunigis brought kanklės (Lithuanian zither) players together; in 2026 it celebrates its 120th anniversary, the year Skriaudžiai is Lithuania’s Little Capital of Culture. More than 20 people play and sing in it, some of them for fifty years, and the Skriaudžiai kanklės tradition is listed in Lithuania’s inventory of intangible cultural heritage. It is led by Dalia Venckienė, and the Veiveriai Culture and Leisure Centre welcomes new members.
