English"Jūrava" Women's Choir

Description
Formed in 1950, the choir was initially a mixed choir and participated in all national Song Festivals as well as in two World Lithuanian Song Festivals in Vilnius. In 2016, when Vytautė Jonuškienė took over as conductor, the group gradually became an all-female choir and participated in the 2018 Song Festival marking the centennial of the restoration of the state and the 2024 Song Festival. Today, “Jūrava” actively performs at events in the town of Rietavas, as well as at choral festivals and events in Lithuania and abroad; its repertoire includes works by Lithuanian composers and those from various other nations. In 2018 and 2024, the choir was awarded Category II status; in 2025, it celebrated its 75th anniversary and organized the international choir festival “Dainos sparnais.”
