Description
In October 2023, a jazz orchestra began performing in Vievis on the initiative of jazz saxophonist Rolandas Butkevičius and the Vievis Cultural Center. Following in the footsteps of legendary 20th-century big bands—such as Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, and Count Basie—the orchestra strives to recreate the authentic sound of the “golden age” of big bands. The orchestra brings together both professionals and amateurs; its repertoire ranges from classic swing and rock to Latin and funk music; the band collaborates with vocalists and performs songs by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Ella Fitzgerald. The ensemble invites new musicians to join.
