Jaunsardze Unit

Jaunsardze (Latvian Youth Guard) is Latvia's largest military-patriotic education movement for children and young people, coordinated by the Jaunsardze Center. There are 3 youth guard training groups here: level 1 (grades 4–6), level 2 (grades 7–8) and a special course in orienteering. Sessions take place once a week after school (90 min.): land navigation, first aid, safety and civil defense, drill, sports and team tasks, while hikes, camps and competitions are organized on weekends. Children and young people aged 10–21 are accepted with written parental consent – an application form and a participation agreement are filled in; training is free, and every youth guard receives a uniform.
