Jaunsardze Unit

Jaunsardze (Latvian Youth Guard) is Latvia's largest military-patriotic education movement for children and young people, coordinated by the Jaunsardze Center. There are 2 youth guard training groups here: level 1 (grades 4–6) and level 2 (grades 7–8). In weekly 90-minute sessions after school, youth guards learn to navigate in nature and in town, give first aid and act in a crisis, along with the basics of drill and shooting; on weekends they take part in hikes and camps. Children and young people aged 10–21 can join: an application is submitted to the instructor and an agreement is signed (by parents for minors); participation is free, and the Jaunsardze Center provides the uniform and equipment.
