Jaunsardze Unit

Jaunsardze (Latvian Youth Guard) is Latvia's largest military-patriotic education movement for children and young people, coordinated by the Jaunsardze Center. There are 3 youth guard training groups here: Level 1 (grades 4–6), Level 2 (grades 7–8), Level 4 (grades 10–12). Once a week after school (90 min.), members learn orienteering and map reading, first aid, drill, the basics of shooting and outdoor survival, while hikes, camps and competitions take place on weekends and during school holidays. Children and young people aged 10–21 can join: an application is submitted to the instructor and an agreement is signed (by the parents for minors); participation is free, and the Jaunsardze Center provides the uniform and equipment.
