Description
Jaunsardze (Latvian Youth Guard) is Latvia's largest military-patriotic education movement for children and young people, coordinated by the Jaunsardze Center. There is 1 youth guard training group here: level 1 (grades 4–6). Once a week after school (90 min.), they learn land navigation and map reading, first aid, and the basics of drill, shooting and outdoor survival; on weekends and during school holidays there are hikes, camps and competitions. Children and young people aged 10–21 can join: an application is submitted to the instructor and an agreement is signed (by parents for minors); participation is free, and the Jaunsardze Center provides the uniform and equipment.
