Jaunsardze Unit

Jaunsardze (Latvian Youth Guard) is Latvia's largest military-patriotic education movement for children and young people, coordinated by the Jaunsardze Center. There are 3 youth guard training groups here: Level 1 (grades 4–6), Level 2 (grades 7–8). Once a week after school (90 min.), members learn orienteering and map reading, first aid, drill, the basics of shooting and outdoor survival, while hikes, camps and competitions take place on weekends and during school holidays. Children and young people aged 10–21 are accepted with written parental consent: an application form and a participation agreement are filled in; training is free, and every youth guard receives a uniform.
