Description
The name of the folk ensemble “Giedružė,” founded in 2002, was inspired by the name of a dune near Nida. The ensemble showcases the ethnic culture of the coastal region, as well as fishermen’s customs and traditions; it promotes the legacy of Martynas Liudvikas Rėza and performs his songs at events in Neringa, throughout Lithuania, and abroad. The repertoire consists of songs characteristic of the ethnographic region of Lithuania Minor, composed by L. Rėza, A. Juška, and Ch. Barčas, characteristic of the ethnographic region of Lithuania Minor, performed with accompaniment by the kanklės, the Lithuania Minor harp, the violin, the lumzdelis, the cimbalom, the basedla, and the drum.
