Dubrava Arboretum
Description
The Dubrava Arboretum in Girionys is a dendrological collection of about 51 ha, planted since 1958 and declared a protected natural site in 2000. More than 2,000 species of native and exotic trees and shrubs grow here, including about 50 rhododendrons that flower in May and June. Renewed paths lead past labelled plants, with benches, bicycle racks and a pond with a footbridge and a gazebo. Entry is free, but the pine and heather collection, the quarantine nursery and the rare trees display can only be visited by prior arrangement.
