Description
“Wileńszczyzna” is a flagship Polish song and dance ensemble founded in 1980, whose programmes are built on Polish folklore of the Vilnius region collected on field expeditions: themed programmes about matchmaking, weddings, St Casimir’s Day (Kaziukas) and Midsummer (Joninės). The ensemble has performed on four continents and co-organises the “Kwiaty Polskie” festival. Its dancers and singers are schoolchildren, students and working young people from Vilnius and the surrounding area. The dance groups rehearse at Lelevelio gimnazija; everyone who wants to keep traditions alive is invited to join.
