Cape Kolka – where two seas meet, Kolka
Description
Cape Kolka is the most prominent headland on the Latvian coast, where the open Baltic Sea meets the Gulf of Riga, and a good starting point for exploring Slītere National Park. During migration tens of thousands of birds fly over the cape, and Kolka lighthouse stands on an artificial island 5–6 km out to sea. The cape is always open and free, the car park is paid, and the visitor centre offers tourist information, souvenirs and toilets. Swimming near the cape is dangerous because of strong currents.
