Description

The Skaistkalne karst sinkholes are a geological and geomorphological natural monument, with more than 100 ha included in the Natura 2000 network; the karst area continues into Lithuania’s Biržai Regional Park. Groundwater dissolving gypsum layers creates sinkholes, dry valleys and small sinkhole lakes. The area is free to visit at any time, and guided tours can be booked at the “Novadnieki” local history centre.
