English"Volunga" Folk Ensemble

Description
The “Volunga” folk ensemble performs traditional folk music from various regions of Lithuania: monophonic and polyphonic songs, hymns, and sutartines, accompanied by a drum; the singers wear re-created 10th–11th-century Baltic garments that they have sewn themselves. The ensemble organizes evening gatherings and equinox celebrations, leads the Rasos rituals during the Midsummer Festival in Lentvaris, and participates in the “Skamba skamba kankliai” and “Atataria lamzdžiai” festivals. The director is Inga Okuškienė.
