Jaunsardze Unit

Jaunsardze (Latvian Youth Guard) is Latvia's largest military-patriotic education movement for children and young people, coordinated by the Jaunsardze Center. There are 3 youth guard training groups here: level 1 (grades 4–6), level 3 (grade 9) and a special course in orienteering. Sessions take place once a week after school (90 min.): land navigation, first aid, safety and civil defense, drill, sports and team tasks, while hikes, camps and competitions are organized on weekends. Children and young people aged 10–21 can join: an application is submitted to the instructor and an agreement is signed (by parents for minors); participation is free, and the Jaunsardze Center provides the uniform and equipment.
