Jaunsardze Unit

Jaunsardze (Latvian Youth Guard) is Latvia's largest military-patriotic education movement for children and young people, coordinated by the Jaunsardze Center. There are 2 youth guard training groups here: Level 3 (grade 9), a special course in unmanned aerial vehicles (drones). In weekly 90-minute sessions after school, youth guards learn to find their way in nature and in town, give first aid, act in a crisis, drill and the basics of shooting, and on weekends they go on hikes and to camps. Children and young people aged 10–21 are accepted with written parental consent: an application form and a participation agreement are filled in; training is free, and every youth guard receives a uniform.
