Description
Jaunsardze (Latvian Youth Guard) is Latvia's largest military-patriotic education movement for children and young people, coordinated by the Jaunsardze Center. There are 3 youth guard training groups here: Level 2 (grades 7–8), a special course in unmanned aerial vehicles (drones). In weekly 90-minute sessions after school, youth guards learn to find their way in nature and in town, give first aid, act in a crisis, drill and the basics of shooting, and on weekends they go on hikes and to camps. Children and young people aged 10–21 can join: an application is submitted to the instructor and an agreement is signed (by the parents for minors); participation is free, and the Jaunsardze Center provides the uniform and equipment.
