LVM dabas parks Tērvetē

A forest park of about 1200 ha in Tērvete, near the Lithuanian border, looked after by LVM, the Latvian state forest company. More than 35 km of trails lead through the Dwarf Forest with its little town of houses “Čiekure”, the Fairy Tale Forest with wooden sculptures of characters from Anna Brigadere's fairy tales, an old pine forest and the Tērvete River valley. There is a play area, a fairy-tale train (€1.50), bike and stroller rental, and picnic spots; the adventure and net parks and “Anneles Zoo” are paid for separately. You need at least three hours to see the main sights. The park is open all year except December 31 and January 1, and dogs are welcome on a leash. Parking costs €5 per day; the old wooden observation tower is closed.
