Description

The Biržai Aeroclub is home to the Biržai Squadron of “Airtech,” a Lithuanian non-formal education agency, where children learn to fly a training glider. The “Children’s Gliding” program is designed for students in grades 5–8: Over the course of 190 hours, they learn the basics of aerodynamics, meteorology, and aviation technology, as well as safe behavior at the airfield, and during practical training, they fly a glider up to a height of 5 meters. Training can last from 1.5 to 6 years, and upon turning 15, graduates receive a children’s aviation pilot license. New members are accepted in April and May; the cost is €25 per month (the NVŠ voucher can be used).
